P.I.E.’s social activities are geared towards creating great opportunities for neighbors to meet neighbors. PIE's Social Committee coordinates all of our events with the help of volunteers and the PIE Board. Any P.I.E. member is welcome to serve on any of our committees -- we're always looking for help!. Please email your photos to be published on the website to [email protected]
Our Cornhole Tournament/ Sewer Awareness event was a HUGE success! We had 27 Islanders competing in the games. Others came to cheer the competitors. Everyone enjoyed the burgers and brew. We raised over $6,800, bringing our total for the PIE Action Fund to nearly $40,000. That's 40% of our target! Thank you Amy & Mick McCully for sponsoring a FABULOUS event!
Saturday, May 14th. It was a beautiful day, and everyone was in the mood for fun. The Taco Box Boat Party was a great afternoon, with amazing food provided by The Taco Box. There were door prizes and a 50-50 raffle, which was generously gifted back to PIE by our new neighbor, Larry Thees. Thank you, Larry! Many new faces were in attendance and folks got a chance to meet their new neighbors. A wonderful time was had by all!
01.01.2022 The PIE Annual GOLF CART PARADE!
After Covid cancelled our New Year's tradition on 1/1/21, we came back strong this year! The carts were fabulous, and we've never seen crowds that big. Hundreds of spectators lined the hard road north and south. Our thanks to Linda Cotherman for organizing the event and Heather Stout for a big assist, Craig Baresel for setting up and striking down, Our fabulous Judges (Isabel, Holly, Casey and ) Much love and gratitude to our terrific M.C. Brent Klaus -- best emcee ever! With perfect weather and great joy in watching the festivities -- this parade will be a tough one to beat!

11.23.2019 The PIE Community YARRRD Sale
Our thanks to everyone who helped with the YARRRD Sale! This was our first try and the participation by sellers was fantastic, including donations to the PIE table, Next year we will be looking for ways to improve the event and increase attendance. That being said, it was a great success. It was a beautiful day and we had 14 rummage vendors. Shay's BBQ menu included pulled pork sandwiches, BBQ brisket, BBQ chix and an enormous "Que" dog covered in pulled pork. Habitat for Humanity sent their large truck which left the Island over 1/2 full of treasures and folks were able to clean out their closets with ease. A special thanks to Ashton Boyer who rough-mowed the area, and Craig Baresel who did the finish-mowing and weed eating. He also hauled all the tables and chairs both to set up and break down and picked up large pieces of furniture which were donated to PIE for resale. Thanks to Rose and the Social committee for coordination, Meryl Schaffer for her posters and e-mail notifications and Heather Stout for the lovely banner. 01.20.2019 B.I.C.I Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony & Garden Party
On Sunday January 20th, the Board of Directors of the Bocilla Islands Conservancy held a ribbon-cutting for a newly acquired conservation easement at 160 Gasparilla way. The interactive vision plan for this area was presented to those attending. The plan includes natural paths meandering throughout the property. Native vegetation will be highlighted as well as areas for bird houses, bat houses, checkers, a “gnome” forest and environmental information. Approximately 50 people attended the “Thank You” party which followed the ceremony. It was a true garden party, complete with champagne and hors d’oeuvres and fancy hats for a photo booth. Everyone had a wonderful time. All were supportive of the Conservancy’s efforts to date, with many committing to volunteering their time and support for the many conservation and environmental projects going on. It was truly a community gathering, for the benefit of the community. There are many opportunities for everyone to get involved at many levels.
