About PIE

Palm Island Estates Association, Inc. (PIE) is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the unique island community of Knight Island, Palm Island, Don Pedro Island, and Thornton Key. Originally incorporated in 1980 to preserve the islands’ natural environment, PIE continues to serve as a representative voice for property owners, advocating for civic and community interests while fostering a strong sense of community among residents and visitors.

Our Mission:

Promoting cooperation among all island property owners, offering a representative voice in civic and community affairs, and assisting in maintaining our island paradise environment.

What We Do

PIE plays a vital role in preserving the beauty, culture, community, and well-being of our islands through a variety of initiatives:

Supporting our community by sharing timely and relevant island updates.

Representing the island in civic matters, engaging with local authorities such as the Charlotte County Board of Commissioners, Palm Island Transit, Fire Department, and Sheriff’s Department.

Enhancing infrastructure and services by working with local officials and advocating for residents’ needs.

Building connections through social events that bring residents and visitors together.

Encouraging youth involvement in community service and education through scholarships and volunteer opportunities.

Protecting our environment by partnering with organizations like the Bocilla Islands Conservancy, Inc. and the Don Pedro/Knight Island Sea Turtle Patrol.

Why Join PIE?

While membership is not mandatory, your support directly contributes to the programs and initiatives that help preserve and improve island life.

Benefits of Membership

1. PIE Action Committee: This committee is dedicated to protecting the island and ensuring that the collective voice of residents is heard on important issues. It focuses on critical community matters and advocates for necessary changes or initiatives.2. PIE Social Committee: Responsible for organizing social events, this committee creates opportunities for community engagement. It coordinates informational sessions, expert speeches, and discussions on pressing topics like proposals and beach regulations.

3. PIE Info Central: This committee keeps residents informed about critical issues, upcoming events, and important community updates. It is a valuable resource for all relevant information affecting the island’s residents.

4. Demo Gardens Initiative: This initiative emphasizes plant restoration and promotes sustainable practices for the island’s wildlife. It serves as a demonstration of effective gardening and conservation techniques to benefit the community and environment.

5. Island Kids Scholarship Fund: This fund provides scholarships to residents, enabling local students to apply for financial assistance. It supports the academic aspirations of students living on the island.

Our PIE Social committee organizes beloved island events, such as the New Year’s Day Golf Cart Parade, Palm Palooza, and Sand Castle Contest, and we’re always looking for new ways to bring people together! See our online calendar to keep up to date with current events!

Reflective house number signs are available for our dues-paid members. This is a great benefit for PIE members, as the signs can be mounted on a post near the road. These signs make it easier for police, fire, and ambulance to find your home in an emergency.

PIE supports local conservation efforts, coordinates annual beach access clean-ups, and ensures the well-maintained state of our island gardens and private beach easements.
